estimated payout
Based on an estimated $0.003–$0.005 per stream. Spotify pays out of a pooled royalty fund, so your per-stream rate moves with total platform streams and where your listeners are. Actual payouts depend on your distributor deal, listeners' countries, and subscription mix — treat this as a ballpark, not a guarantee.

How Spotify royalties are calculated
Spotify does not pay artists a fixed amount for every stream. Instead, it uses a streamshare royalty model, where subscription fees and advertising revenue are combined into a shared royalty pool. At the end of each payment period, Spotify calculates each track's share of total streams and distributes royalties to rights holders accordingly.
Because of this system, the value of a single stream changes over time. Factors such as total platform revenue, the number of streams across Spotify, listener location, subscription type, and licensing agreements all influence how much a stream is worth. This is why royalty calculators provide estimates instead of guaranteed earnings.
Industry estimates generally place Spotify's payout between $0.003 and $0.005 per stream, although the actual amount can be higher or lower depending on market conditions. Premium subscribers typically contribute more to the royalty pool than ad-supported listeners, which means streams from Premium accounts often generate greater revenue.
Since 2024, Spotify has also introduced a minimum annual streaming threshold for tracks to qualify for recorded music royalty payments. Songs that receive fewer than 1,000 eligible streams within a rolling 12-month period generally do not generate recorded music royalties. This policy is designed to reduce fraudulent and low-activity royalty payments.
Use the PlayGeet Spotify Royalties Calculator to estimate your potential earnings based on current industry averages. While no calculator can predict your exact payout, it can help you set realistic streaming goals and better understand how Spotify royalties work.
